Priyanka Chopra now joins 100 cr Club!

While there has been much talk on the big boys of bollywood getting into to the much coveted 100 crore club, there has been little talk of the female 100 crore club of Bollywood.  It becomes relevant in the light of the fact that  off late it has become evident that girls of bollywood are adding to the commercial value of a film like never before.
A look at the female 100 crore club throws an interesting landscape. Kareena Kapoor leads with 4 hundred crore films ( 3 idiots, bodyguard, golmal 3 and Ra.One), Priyanka Chopra is closing in on Kareena with two back to back 100 crore plus films ( don 2 and Agneepath). Katrina and Deepika Padukone, though in the top league of heroines are absent from the club.
There are other heroines who are relatively less serious players in the Bollywood hierarchy but are present in the club. Asin and Kajal Agrawal are the two of them.
100 crore has become a definition of widespread success in the business and has emerged recently a measuring parameter of sorts.
While conventionally it’s the guys who take ownership of commercial success but slowly success is also being attributed to girls.
Advertisers and Brand managers are also keeping a tab on the hundred core club. Kareena’s brand value showed a jump after being part of 100 crore films.
Now Priyanka with her back to back biggies has registered a strong presence in the 100 crore club. For advertisers it means wide reach and a certain mass of people consuming the celebrity.

Bhaag Milkha Bhaag commences shoot on March 9

India's biggest biopic Bhaag Milkha Bhaag is all set to go on floors. Announced with much fanfare, Prasoon Joshi and Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra have been working on the script for almost a year.  
Only once everyone has been extremely happy with the outcome they have decided to go on floors.  
Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra has choosen the quant town of Firozpur in Punjab to commence shooting. Starting after the auspicious Holi day, there was a lot of speculation on the location of shooting the film.  
Rakyesh and his team has been searching for a perfect location to start shooting and after visiting almost all towns of Punjab they have shortlisted Firozpur. Firozpur has the perfect typography and colours that the art direction team was looking into. 
Firozpur as a corridor in Indian history has been an important town and would play a significant character in the film. Its culture and historial back ground adds to the scenes of the film.  
Milkha Singh is very excited that Farhan Akhtar would play the title role and is being shot in Punjab.

Big B Celebrates Holi wih Jaya

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan and wife Jaya will pair up after 20 years for a colourful sequence in Amitabh's make up man's Bhojpuri film Gangadevi.
The two were last seen together in a Holi song in Silsila.
The real-life couple will be lip syncing to Man Hoke Patang in the under production Bhojpuri film Gangadevi, being produced by Big B's make up man Deepak Sawant.
The song,which is an integral part of the film, was shot prior to Big B's hospitalisation and surgery.
The last Holi sequence Amitabh Bachchan was seen in, was Holi Khele Raghuveera in Baghban, along with Hema Malini. Sawant has great hopes from this song.
Says Sawant: "Whenever Amitji and Jayaji have teamed up for a Holi song, the result has been phenomenal.
"Whether it was Holi Ke Din Dil Mil Jate Hain in Sholay or the iconic Rang Barse in Silsila, it had created wonders.
"Though both of them celebrate Holi every year in real life, onscreen they are doing it after a long time. "There was great excitement when the song was being shot.
"I wanted the song to be sung by Amitji, but since he was not in town at the time, it has been sung by Sudesh Bhonsale. "
"Amitji had completed the shoot of the film before fixing the date for his operation, though he was suffering even then. He did not want to delay my film."

Acclaimed Pakistani Actor Manzar Sehbai Makes his Debut in Bollywood

Manzar Sehbai, the Pakistani actor living in Germany since past 30 years, is makinghis debut in Bollywood with Hasnanin Hydrabadwala (The Train, Killer & Jashn fame) directed ‘YaRab’. In this film, Manzar Sehbai is doing the pivotal character of neurosurgeon.  He has earlier received rave reviews for his portrayal of a hakim in Pakistani film BOL. “That was my debut in Pakistani film industry and Ya Rab is my debut for Hindi film industry. I have enjoyed both the experiences. I am basically a theater artiste and have done serious research in theater in Germany. Films are a new medium for me post retirement from teaching theater and I am thoroughly enjoying it. It’s quite entertaining.” He has also received an offer to work side by side with Naseeeruddin Shah in another Pakistani film, one that Manzar Sehbai has given a go ahead in principle. "I am heading to Pakistan to get complete narration and get into my character."
For him theater is his main profession while films are more of an entertaining respite.  Produced under the banner of True Films, Ya Rab is written by Ikram Akhtar ( of Thank U and Ready fame) with Sanjay Masoom (Krissh fame) and produced by - Mohsin Ali Khan. The film was shot in various parts of Mumbai and Lucknow and Manzar has had a good and positive experience shooting in Lucknow. “Not that I could see the city but the interaction with the team has been very good. The city of Lucknow has beautiful people. Mumbai is also a very warm hearted city.”

He has had the opportunity to meet the Indian legend Dilip Sahib in Mumbai.Comments Manzar, “it was an honour and pleasure to meet dilip sahib. I amthankful to Mohan Kumar for arranging this meeting. It was amazing. I could notbelieve that Dilip sahib has given us an hour to meet. And on meeti8ng hegripped my hand so hard and wouldn’t let it go for the entire duration of ourconversation. It was such a strong grip for a person of his age.”

He has done many plays, telefilms and films in Pakistan like keejanaan main kaun, toba tek singh, paani ke qaidi etc…
