Prachee shah Paandya says What greater high that on one side I was paying a tribute to a legend like jagjit singhji and on the other side I was opening a week long festival to celebrate the birth of lord krishna .It brought back my childhood memories of performing on the same stage when I was just a few years older than my daughter khiana !  As a mother it was a great feeling to have my 3and a half year old daughter sitting and clapping for me !

Hindi film “RIWAYAT” - exposing the shocking issue of female foeticide

“Riwayat”is an upcoming Hindi feature film that handles the disturbing issue of femalefoeticide and infanticide. It is produced by two internationally renownedIndian doctors in Australia. Film is based on real facts, that is about 100million baby girls are missing from this world since 1984 - 40 million fromIndia alone. They were killed onlyfor being girls and not boys who are favoured by traditions. The practice offemale foeticide is still rampant judging by the falling female to male babyratio in India.  The issue has beencalled as a matter of national shame. Just a few years ago Millennium Star Mr.Amitabh Bachchan expressed his feelings in an event, where he said ‘how we cancongratulate ourselves as a superstar nation when we loose millions of femaleinfants to foeticide’. Recently, even Super Star Aamir Khan brought this issuein light in the very first episode of his mega talk show ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
Film“Riwayat” handles the issue of female foeticide and infanticide in an artisticand sensitive manner. It does not exploit the issue just for the sake of beingsensational. It simply portrays the emotional journey of three ladies fromdifferent walks of life, after facing this issue. आनेवाली हिंदी फिल्म "रिवायत" कन्या भ्रूण हत्या पर आधारित है. इसका निर्माण ऑस्ट्रेलिया में बसे दो विख्यात डाक्टरों ने किया है. यह फिल्म यतार्थ  के धरातल पर बनी है, जैसे की लगभग १०० मिलियन कन्याएं सन १९८४ विश्व में जन्म ही नहीं ले सकी, अकेले सिर्फ इंडिया में अंदाजन ४० मिलियन, इन कन्याओ को लड़के के चाहत में जन्म लेने से पहले ही मार दिया गया, यह परंपरा आज भी जरी है क्योंकि लड़कियों की अपेक्षा लडको की संख्या भारत में बढती जा रही है, यह इस देश के लिए एक शर्मनाक हालात हैं.
