कई फिल्मो में अपना जलवा बिखेर चुकी अभिनेत्री पायल सेठ भोजपुरी की उन गिनी चुनी अभिनेत्रियों में शामिल है जो अपनी हर ख़ुशी भोजपुरी फिल्म जगत के लोगो के साथ बाँटना पसंद करती है। पिछले दिनों अपने जन्मदिन के अवसर पर उन्होंने भव्य पार्टी का आयोजन किया जिसमे अभिनेता सुदीप पाण्डेय, अनिल सम्राट, अवधेश मिश्रा, ब्रिजेश त्रिपाठी, बिपिन सिंह , फूल सिंह, गौरव झा, गौरीशंकर, गिरीश शर्मा , विष्णु शंकर बेलु , भोजपुरी फिल्म जगत में हॉट केक व बॉक्स ऑफिस की रानी के नाम से मशहूर अभिनेत्री अंजना सिंह, ऋतू पाण्डेय, जे . नीलम, निर्देशक राज कुमार पाण्डेय, बबलू सोनी, रवि कश्यप, दिनेश यादव, निर्माता शंभू पाण्डेय, संजय यादव सहित भोजपुरी व हिंदी फिल्म जगत के कई जाने माने लोग मौजूद थे . देर रात तक चली इस पार्टी में लोगो ने जम कर ठुमका लगाया .

~ 10 Smash hits from Sony Music in ‘Top 20 songs of the Year 2012’~

January, 2013: 2012, the year that witnessed the completion of 100 years of cinema also saw an increasing number of chartbusters from Bollywood. Sony Music’s rich catalogue got even richer with a fleet of smash hits which claimed top positions in the ‘Top 20 songs of the Year 2012’.

Right from Chikni Chameli to Pungi to Pareshaan, Sony Music’s songs created waves throughout 2012. The songs, Ala Barfi and Main Kya Karu of the much appreciated silent romantic movie, Barfi managed to get 2 positions in the top 20 and so was the case of the songs, Disco Deewane and Ishq Wala Love from the love triangle Student of the Year. Other songs from Sony Music that enthralled the music lovers last year were Chinta Ta Chita Chita (Rowdy Rahore), Tu Hi Mera (Jannat 2), Halkat Jawani (Heroine).

Not just Bollywood, Sony Music has created ripples in Kollywood by retaining no.1 position throughout 2012. Sony Music has rocked the charts with notable hits like Kolaveri Di from movie 3, Nenjukulle from A R Rahman’s musical Kadal and many more.

Mumbai homemaker wins Rs. 5 crore Jackpot on KBC 2012!

History was created yet again on Indian television’s most iconic game show Kaun Banega Crorepati 2012 as the show got its first jackpot winner of this season. The moment was resonant when Sunmeet Kumar Sawhney, a mere 12^th pass housewife took the honors of being the first woman ever to lift the jack pot; Panch Koti Gyaan Kumbh amounting to Rupees 5 crores on this widely held game show.

The success of Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney is an emphatic endorsement of the fact that the show is not just a game show, but a melting pot of knowledge and aspirations of the nation thereby proving “Sirf Gyan Hi Apko Apka Haq Dilata Hai”. Leading the way, Kaun Banega Crorepati over the years has broken all barriers of demography and geography and transformed lives of people all across the country. For the housewife as well as tuition teacher Sunmeet Kaur Sawhney, knowledge was the key to success and it was rightly proven in her case. A housewife and mother of two, Sawhney gives tuitions to young children in her vicinity to add to the family income. She was impeccable when on the ‘Hot Seat’ and tackled all questions with self-assurance, tact and ease. Her sheer determination and quench for knowledge and the support that she got from her family throughout, primarily her husband, gave her the willpower and courage to attempt the jackpot question.

The 37-year-old woman had not dreamt that she would win Rs five crore on KBC. “My parents wanted me to study further but considering my grandfather's poor health and his wish to see me getting married I couldn't study more. After marriage I got caught up in household chores and responsibilities. It was when I underwent a surgery that I took a decision of taking tuitions at home. I truly believe that knowledge is the key to success. It is not about how qualified one is, even by keeping yourself updated with current affairs one can become knowledgeable," she said. Though she could not get the opportunity to study more, Sawhney says she will ensure that her two daughters get the best possible education.

And talking about the very own legend and show host Amitabh Bachchan, Sunmeet adds “Bachchan sir has been very lucky for me. I want to set an example to all housewives that they can also win,” Mr. Bachchan too shared his excitement on Sunmeet’s winning and congratulated her. He added, “I’m very happy that a lady has won 5 crores on KBC and she played the game in the most wonderful way possible. Never did she look tensed or perplexed during any of the questions.”

Sony Pictures India ends 2012 with highest grossing year for a H'wood studio

Sony Pictures India has ended the year 2012 with the best year ever for a Hollywood studio at the Indian box office. With 12 titles releasing in the year, Sony Pictures finished the year with a total gross of 217 crore at the Indian box office.

In 2012, Sony Pictures India also had the two top opening weekends of all time for Hollywood films in India with The Amazing Spider-Man (3D) at #1 (Rs. 34 crore opening weekend) and Skyfall at #2 (Rs. 27.5 crore opening weekend). Both titles also reached their respective franchise lifetime highs. Half of Sony Pictures’ titles in 2012 were released in four languages each and an additional one in two languages. Moreover, half the titles were released in 3D.

The Amazing Spider-Man also had the widest release so far reaching a record 650 cities.

Kercy Daruwala, Managing Director, Sony Pictures India commented on the record year saying, “The Indian market continues to grow steadily with an increased interest in Hollywood films across languages and regions and parallel growth in the number of screens. We are proud to be at the forefront of this movement, and the top contributor to this market’s growth for Hollywood.”

Sony Pictures’ line-up in 2013 includes Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth starring Jaden Smith and Will Smith, Elysium starring Matt Damon and Jodie Foster, Roland Emmerich’s White House Down, Tom Hanks starrer Captain Philips and returns of successful franchises in Evil Dead, Grown Ups 2 and box office sensations The Smurfs 2 (3D).
