Prashantt Guptha receives San Francisco Global Fest Award from Ayushman Khurrana

The handsome villain of Issaq strikes again. This time, actor Prashantt Guptha has bagged the Best Supporting Actor Award for Raahat Kazmi’s  Identity Card. He received the award at the hands of  Ayushmann Khurrana and the Honorable Consul General N. Parthasarthy at The San Francisco Global Movie Festival. Before this, the actor also received the best debutante award at the 10th Excellence National Award for his earlier film Issaq in which he was noted in the role of a handsome villain. Legendary Comedian Eddie Griffin and Esha Deol were also present at the fest.

“Identity Card highlights the importance of an identity card in Kashmir without which one can be interrogated and arrested and labeled a terrorist. Prashantt plays a Kashmiri cop and pits wits with stalwarts of the likes of Saurabh Shukla, Vipin Sharma, Raghubir Yadav and Brijendra Kala. And this award speaks for this young man’s talent. I am very glad,” avered Raahat Kazmi who is also very happy at Identity Card winning the Best Film Award at the San Francisco Global Fest.

66 th EMMY AWARDS

The Television Academy today awarded the 66th Primetime Emmy® Awards from the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles for programming which aired during the 2013-2014 season. STAR did the first ever LIVE simulcast of the 66th Primetime Emmy® Awards in English Entertainment across 5 channels - Star World, Star World HD, Star World Premiere HD, FX and Fox Crime today, 26th of August 2014. The repeat of the three-hour 66th Primetime Emmy® Awards will be showcased tonight at 8: 00 pm on Star World, Star World HD, Fox Crime and FX.

Hosted by Seth Meyers, the 66th Emmy Awards ceremony presented the coveted statuette in 26 categories and was telecast live on NBC.  In addition, Emmys in 80 other categories for programs and individual achievements were presented at the Creative Arts Awards on August 16, 2014, also from the Nokia Theatre.

The awards, as tabulated by the independent accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP, were distributed as follows: (Note: The figures in parenthesis represent the grand total of Emmys awarded, including those announced tonight and those announced August 16, 2014).

Oscar-Award Nominated & Emmy-Award Winning Costume Designer Joins ‘Mohenjo Daro’Crew

Award winning Costume Designer April Ferry has joined Ashutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro. April, in her Hollywood career spanning decades, has designed costumes for many top Hollywood films such as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Robocop (2015), Elysium, Surrogates and Jurassic World (unreleased sequel to Steven Spielberg’s films), Maverick and the HBO series Rome. She has received an Oscar-Award nomination for her costume designing for Maverick and won the Outstanding Costume for a Series Emmy for Rome. Having designed costumes for some of the most well known actors in Hollywood, April is now set to design the costumes for Hrithik Roshan, debutant Pooja Hegde along with the entire cast of the film.

Says April, “I am really thrilled to be working with Ashutosh Gowariker. When I first heard about this film I really hoped that it wouldn’t clash with my work back there and I am glad it didn’t. This film excites me because there is very little known about that period and so it gives me a lot of creative space to create costumes for an era which is so ancient.”

Ashutosh Gowariker, “I feel extremely proud to be working with Ms.April Ferry. I have been a great admirer of her work, especially with regards to her keen eye for detail, and I’m now delighted that she will design the costumes for Mohenjo Daro.

Mohenjo Daro is an epic love story, set during the Indus Valley Civilization jointly produced by Disney India’s Studio business and Ashutosh Gowariker Production Pvt. Ltd. (AGPPL).

The film will go on floors in October 2014.

EUROPEAN VERSION OF DUNNO Y… LIFE IS A MOMENT TO PREMIERE AT PRESTIGIOUS OPERA HOUSE AT OSLO

The European version of Dunno Y… Life Is A Moment will premiere on 28^th August at the prestigious Opera House of Oslo. It is one of the top ten Opera Houses of the world. By screening it, The Norwegian Opera & Ballet seeks to contribute to the international debate concerning cultural politics and ongoing discussion concerning love between people of the same sex. According to Tor Fagerland (Producer / Multicultural Projects The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet) this film is a fearless, brave and generous project that may create debate and reactions.

The film stars Zeenat Aman, Kapil Sharma, Yuvraaj Parashar, Pakistani actresses Meera, Sadia Khan and Norwegian actresses Tonje Gjevjon and Edith Roth Gjevjon. It is directed by Norwegian director Tonje Gjevjon and Sanjay Sharma. Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar has sung the title track. The film is in Hindi, English and Norwegian languages. It is sequel to ten international award winners Dunno Y… Na Jaane Kyun.

Along with the international cast and crew its lead actors Kapil Sharma and Yuvraaj Parashar will be walking the red carpet. Kapil Sharma will be wearing a black colour Indian sherwani with embroidery work. Yuvraaj Parashar will be performing Kathak on stage in the live stage show From Dusk to dawn after the screening of the film. Yuvraaj in past has performed Kathak at Switzerland, Greece, Alta (Norway), Italy and Poland. There will also be live singing performances by Pakistani actress Sadia Khan, popular Norwegian singer Gaute Ormåsen, lead singer of the Norwegian sami band Adjágas Sara Marielle Gaup Beaska and the famous Pin-Up girls band The Hungry Hearts. An Indian drag queen Nary Singh who is also acting in the film will also be attending premiere wearing a traditional Indian outfit inspired from Sridevi’s look in Chandini. Before the screening Anne Aasheim and Abid Q. Raja will hold a speech. Anne Aasheim is the managing director of the Arts Council Norway. In past she was the acting director of Norwegian Broadcasting, radio and TV and later editor-in-chief  of Norways biggest national newspaper.  In 2014 she was by a unanimous jury selected to be the woman in Norway with most cultural power.

The audience will include some of the crème de la crème Norwegian celebrities like Oscar nominated film Elling actor Per Christian Ellefsen, renowned actor Nicolay Lange-Nielsen, ellen award prize winner actress and filmmaker Iram Haq, veteran theatre actor Per Egil Aske, comedian and TV personality Linn Skåber, stand-up comedian, writer and columnist Shabana Rehman Gaarder, Oscar nominated editor Inge Lise Langfeldt along with prominent politicians like Abid Q. Raja and Eskil Pedersen. In addition, Lene Løken who is the managing director of Film & Kino, the organization for cinema and video industries in Norway will attend the screening.
