Celebrations begin for the 30th Anniversary of Macao International Music Festival (MIMF)

             
      ~Macao gears up for an unforgettable entertainment 
            experience for music and art lovers ~

Macao has established itself as the ultimate hub for some of the hottest concerts, shows and sporting events, which account for unforgettable entertainment experiences. This year too, Macao is geared up to rejoice in their highly-anticipated 30^th anniversary of Macao International Music Festival (MIMF) commencing 28^th September – 30^th October, 2016.

In the upcoming edition of this world-famous festival, popular musicians and ensembles from all over the world including Russia, The Unites States, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Mongolia, Taiwan, Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao among others will be performing 27 excellent shows to enthral the music-lovers from all across the globe.

This year, MIMF will be showcasing several works of ethnic appeal, which include renowned Portuguese pianist Adriano Jordão, the leader of renowned percussion ensemble Colin Currie Group, Colin Currie, the nationally acclaimed huqin master Xu Ke and the ‘Queen Of Pipa’ Zhong Hongyan, will be conducting master classes for budding musicians. Well-known Hong Kong literary and art critic, Chow Fan Fu, Tam Mei Leng, and the Co-Artistic Director of Hong Kong’s experimental art group Zuni Icosahedron, Danny Yun Ning-Tsun will also be conducting intriguing sessions with music enthusiasts. Jazz guitarists Lawrence Ku and Eugene Pao will also be throwing light on their experiences and their journey so far in the music industry. Several pre-show talks and backstage tours of the opera Turandot will be held to showcase the mesmerising costumes, props and sets used in the production.

Marking the Pearl Jubilee of this much awaited music festival, the Cultural Affairs Bureau will be hosting the ‘Macao International Music Festival Forum’ which has ‘Glorious 30‧The Sinophone Rhapsodies’ as its theme and will be focusing on ‘Music and Arts Festivals as Drivers of a City’s Cultural Development’. During this festival, various renowned guests from cultural sectors of both overseas and the nearby regions will be conducting some very interesting sessions. This year will also mark the launch of the publication ‘30^th Macao International Music Festival Special Commemorative Edition’covering programme reviews and the historical evolution of the Festival in the past years, as well as insightful commentaries and news articles by former festival directors and local scholars, offering an overview of the Festival’s contribution to Macao’s cultural development over the past three decades.

On the eve of this edition, the Organiser has printed a “Scratch to win!” game onto the postcards and has attached a specially designed badge and invitation card with a 30% discount on tickets for the 30^th MIMF, to be sent to all music lovers. Two lucky winners of the “Scratch to win!” game will be awarded two sets of free tickets for all performances of the Festival, and 30 participants will receive a “Gugumesic souvenir set”, celebrating the 30^thanniversary of the Festival.

SHAH RUKH KHAN’S ‘DARR’ TO BE REBOOTED BY Y-FILMS AS A MINI-SERIES Darr 2.0 Takes On Theme Of Cyber-Stalking

In a journey spanning only ten months on digital, Y-Films, India’s premiere youth entertainment studio, has been hailed as a trailblazer by both critics and fans.  Over just four super hit series, one short film anthology and one pop music group, Y-Films has amassed over 65 million views, almost 5 Lac  subscribers, a Cannes Grand Prix Glass Lion Award as well as a Webby Award, amongst many other laurels. The youth films wing of Yash Raj Films, Y-Films has always picked content that’s both entertaining and also social relevant. Be it sex education with Sex Chat with Pappu & Papa, LGBT rights with the 6-Pack Band, gender equality with Man’s World or more. It’s now gearing up to go bigger, darker and edgier with a reboot of the cult YRF thriller, Darr, in a contemporary avatar as a five part mini-series, Darr 2.0.

Darr 2.0 will feature the characters of Rahul, Kiran and Sunil from the original but in an entirely new milieu, weaved in a modern, original tale of obsession and fear in the age of cyber stalking and digital crimes. The series holds a mirror to the perilous environment of online privacy invasion and social media harassment that can take a dangerous and disturbing turn, if unchecked.

To demonstrate the risks of voluntarily releasing too much information on the internet, Y-Films asked its fans, followers & subscribers to send across their happy pictures and moments for its next promo but did not reveal any further information. Hundreds of personal and intimate pictures poured in, and some of those pictures are showcased in the first part of the teaser, the second part of which features an unidentified young man discreetly saving them on his computer. Giving the fans a virtual first-hand experience of the safety risk they undertake each time they share their information online. Thus putting the fans at the center of the Darr 2.0 theme that has the tagline: “You have one new follower.” 

The fifth original Y-Films series, Darr 2.0, is directed by Vikas Chandra, a Sundance Screenwriters Lab Fellow and Associate Creative Producer on YRF’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy and produced by Ashish Patil, Head of Y-Films. It has a story by Nikhil Taneja, with screenplay and dialogues written by Shubham Yogi and Taneja. More details in terms of the cast, crew are yet to be announced but there are some very exciting plans in the pipeline. The five-part series will be out soon on the Y-Films channel. ‘रज्जो’ से ज्यादा ‘अकीरा’ मेरे दिल के करीब: सोनाक्षी सिन्हा

बाॅलीवुड की रज्जो, यानी सोनाक्षी सिन्हा बहुत जल्द पर्दे पर किक और पंच मारती नजर आएंगी।  उनकी मोस्ट अवेटेड फिल्म ‘अकीरा’ इस शुक्रवार रिलीज होने वाली है। ए. आर. मुरूगदास के डायरेक्शन से सजी इस फिल्म में सोनाक्षी जबरदस्त एक्शन अवतार में दिखेंगी। तमिल फिल्म ‘मौउना गुरु’ की रीमेक ‘अकीरा’ का ट्रेलर सलमान खान की फिल्म ‘सुल्तान’ के साथ सिनेमाहाल में रिलीज किया गया था, जबकि अब यह फिल्म 2 सितंबर को रिलीज होनेवाली है। ‘अकीरा’ में सोनाक्षी ने एक्शन से भरपूर एक बोल्ड लड़की का किरदार निभाया है। इसमें सोनाक्षी ने एक बागी लड़की का किरदार निभाया है। फिल्म की कहानी इस बागी लड़की के जोधपुर से मुंबई तक के सफर के आसपास घूमती है। कहानी के हिसाब से कॉलेज स्टूडेंट अकीरा (सोनाक्षी सिन्हा) अपनी पढ़ाई करने के लिए मुंबई आती है और पहले गलतफहमी और फिर साजिशों में उलझते हुए उसकी भिड़ंत भ्रष्ट पुलिस ऑफिसर से हो जाती है। अकीरा अन्याय को न सहन करने वालों में है और उसकी इस जिद के चलते उसे अपने परिवार तक की उपेक्षा का शिकार होना पड़ता है। इस वजह से उसकी जिंदगी बदल जाती है। पुलिस उसका एनकाउंटर करना चाहती है और फिर उसे पागलखाने भेज दिया जाता है। सोनाक्षी ने इस फिल्म के लिए बाकायदा मिक्स्ड मार्शल आर्ट की ट्रेनिंग ली है। शायद यही वजह है कि इस ट्रेलर में वे अपनी पिछली फिल्मों की तुलना में ज्यादा फिट नजर आ रही हैं। उनके स्टंट्स फिल्म का प्रमुख आकर्षण होंगे। इस तरह के खतरनाक स्टंट्स सोनाक्षी ने पहली बार की हैं। शायद यही वह वजह है कि जब उनसे पूछा गया कि इस किरदार को बेहतरीन तरीके से निभाने के लिए आपके अलावा और कौन अभिनेत्री हो सकती है, तो उन्होंने साफ कहा कि मुझे नहीं लगता कि उनसे बेहतर कोई इस किरदार को निभा सकती है। सोनाक्षी ने कहा कि डायरेक्टर ए. आर. मुरूगदास को मेरी क्षमता और प्रतिभा पर यकीन था, तभी उन्होंने मुझे यह रोल आॅफर किया और मैं इसके लिए उनका शुक्रगुजार हूं। उन्होंने कभी भी मुझे फिल्म में हीरोइन की तरह पेश नहीं किया, बल्कि एक अभिनेता की तरह उनका हमेशा मेरे एक्शन सीक्वेंस पर ही ध्यान रहता था। हालांकि, मेरे लिए यह बेहद मुश्किल टास्क था, लेकिन ऊपरवाले की दया से मैं वह सब कुछ करने में सफल रही, जो डायरेक्टर मुझसे अपेक्षा रखते थे। इतनी मेहनत करने के कारण ही अकीरा का यह किरदार मेरी पहली फिल्म ‘दबंग’ के रज्जो के किरदार से कहीं ज्यादा मेरे दिल के करीब है।
