Annup Sonii to feature in a web series based on real-life crime

Annup Sonii, who has for long been anchoring the reality-based television show, Crime Patrol, is now set to feature in a web series based on real life-crime. 

The new web series which is said to be similar to his previous show in terms of its genre will mark Anuup’s return to acting.

Annup who is excited to play the protagonist in each of the eight episodes, will portray eight different characters in the eight episodes. A source informs, “The makers of the show are brainstorming on the cases they wish to explore, with Annup also helping them zero in on the final list. Special emphasis is being given to the writing, because they don't want to unnecessarily sensationalise topics.

Being created for an online platform, the currently untitled show is scheduled to go on floors by the end of the year.

Annup confirms, “The concept is interesting and excites me as an actor. Currently, things are yet to be finalised. An announcement can be expected by the end of this month.”

Kartoos trio Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala reunite for Prassthanam

Sanjay Dutt's Productions next Prassthanam which is a hindi remake of the Telugu hit is all set to bring together the Kartoos trio Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala. The trio worked together in the 1998 Bollywood drama.

Prassthanam also marks the onscreen comeback of Jackie Shroff and Sanjay Dutt after their last film in 2007 titled Eklavya.

Prassthanam will have Sanjay Dutt and Manisha Koirala playing a married couple and Jackie Shroff will be seen playing one of the pivotal roles.

Director Deva Katta shares, "Prassthanam is a subject which is close to my heart and with Jackie sir joining the team, it's a dream come true for me to be able to work with such a powerful cast. I have always looked up to them and its a great opportunity to be able to direct them."

When asked about their roles, Deva Katta said, "Wait and watch who is playing which character. I don’t want to speak much about the film at this point now."

The trio will be shooting together on 7th June in Lucknow.

The film which is being directed  by Deva Katta, has gone on floors on 1st June and also stars Ali Fazal, Amyra Dastur, Chukey Panday and Satyajeet Dubey.

Harishankar-in the endeavor to highlight their Music & Instruments by the best musicians in their fields Ranjit Barot (Drums) &  Bangalore N Amrit (Kanjira)  The event is being held at  St. Andrew's Auditorium, 55, Saint Dominic Road, Bandra West, Mumbai 400050 on 15th June 2018 at 7pm. 

Transcendence is the act of rising above something to a superior state....When you achieve transcendence, you have gone beyond ordinary limitations. This is what a listener is going to experience at this concert by Percussion greats in their own right Ranjit Barot on Drums & Banglore Amrit .N.  It is only fitting that they pay homage to the legends who have been an inspiration in their careers i.e Jazz drummer Buddy Rich &  Carnatic Kanjira artiste G. Harishankar. The event is one of its kind and special since it’s the FIRST time Buddy Rich is being celebrated in his Centennial year in India. 

The history of Percussion goes back to the Rock, the oldest musical instrument ever known to mankind, even the Paleolithic Man couldn’t resist the urge to tap them together and start grooving! Percussion instruments have been in existence for thousands of years and we are going to focus on two instruments from the ocean of percussion music: Drums and the Kanjira. 

Buddy Rich-He is the World’s Greatest Drummer by Modern Drummer magazine. He had 5 GRAMMY nominations; The Jazz Unlimited Immortals of Jazz Award; President’s Special Merit Award from the Recording Academy, just to name a few.  

Shri G. Harishankar- considered the greatest Kanjira artist ever, ushered the Kanjira into a special place and went on to give it an international dimension. He became the torchbearer of the Pudukkottai tradition of playing  Kanjira. Though he had a very short stint and passed away early, he achieved a lot of fame and love worldwide, as a soloist and also as an accompanist to other musicians.

Ranjit Barot is a versatile Musician Drummer, Music Director, Arranger and Singer. He has worldwide collaborations with leading artists from all genres of music. Born to legendary Kathak exponent Sitara Devi, melody and rhythm has always been an integral part of his life. He has been described by guitar legend John McLaughlin as "one of the leading edges in drumming“ and is rated among the top 100 Drummers in the world. 

Bangalore N Amrit, is a globally-renowned musician, performer,and frame-drummer. He had the fortune of learning Khanjira from “Khanjira Maestro”Legendary Vidwan Sri G Harishankar. It is only fitting that he pays tribute to his Guru. He is the youngest Khanjira Artist to be awarded with the “A-Top Grade” from the All India Radio, Govt. of India. He has been labeled the Brand Ambassador of the Kanjira.

'Isle of Dogs' has an all-star voice cast, From Bryan Cranston to Scarlett Johansson

After wowing audiences worldwide, Wes Anderson's latest masterpiece 'Isle of Dogs' will be released in theaters across India on JULY 6th by Fox Star Studios through specialty distribution company Runaway-Luminosity. 'Isle of Dogs' is being touted as Wes Anderson's most artistic, political and detailed film yet. After captivating audiences with "The Royal Tenenbaums" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox," and more recently "The Grand Budapest Hotel " acclaimed director Wes Anderson has wowed cinemagoers with his latest ‘Isle of Dogs’ starring some of Hollywood’s A-Listers.

‘Isle of Dogs’ is an animated stop motion comedy film that is set on an island in Japan built entirely from trash outside a city run by a tyrannical mayor.
