NFDC is known as an organisation known for the development of cinema.
NFDC Launches 6 titles under Cinemas of India on Home Video.
Digitally restored NFDC films, each a significant landmark.
All titles have been digitally restored. Both video and sound.
Titles include the cult classic Jaane bhi do Yaaron by Kundan Shah, Ketan Mehta’s Mirch Masala starring Smita Patil (this was incidentally her last film), the multi ensemble Party by Govind Nihalani, Suraj Ka Satvan Ghoda by Shyam Benegal and Dharavi by Sudhir Mishra.
NFDC with these 6 titles introduces a new concept called Cinemas of India, where they would release all languages.
Cinemas of India endorses deserving regional, independent & art house cinema to facilitate a broader exchange between the international film community & the Indian film Industry.
The campaign has consistently built a promising climate for Indian cinema beginning with the India Pavilion at the Marche Du Cannes (Cannes Film Festival) in 2011. NFDC actively promoted India at Toronto International Film Festival (Canada), MIPCOM (Cannes), American Film Market (Santa Monica) and the European Film Market (Berlinale) this year.
