The Delhi International
Film Festival 2012 coincides with 100 years of Delhi as Capital of India, and
100 years of Indian cinema. Delhi the capital city will get its first ever
International Filmfestival that bears the name of the capital city of the
largest democracy in the world.Unfortunately during the last 65 years of
Independence, none of the International Film Festivalswas ever named after
Delhi. One of the reasons being the International Film festival at Goa,which
used to be organized in Delhi and later on the same festival, was shared with
other cities once a year and Delhi every alternate year. This festival was
finally shifted to Goa, leaving Delhideprived of the world cinema and the film
makers. However, The Delhi International FilmFestival will bring the lost glory
back to Delhi between 21 to 27 December 2012 when itconnects the wonderful
Indian Capital City and the National capital Region with a variety ofInternational
Films and art as well as their creators from many countries around the world at
SiriFort and NDMC Convention Centre. The famous young Actor/ Film maker
Tigmanshu Dhulia who has recently made the famous film “Pan Singh Tomar”, and
acted in another successful film “Gangs of Wassaipur” has announcedthe Delhi
International Film Festival 2012 and launched the festival web site in The
Lalit Hotel, New Delhi. During the official launch Tigmanshu specifically
underlined the fact at least 2,500similar festivals existed not only in the big
cities like London, New York, Paris, Tokyo Beijing etc., but also in smaller
towns. In India International Film festivals do exist in many cities like
Mumbai, Goa, Kolkata, and Trivandrum but regretfully, Delhi city was always deprived
of such a festivity. He is confident that The Delhi International Film festival
2012 will certainly give a new face aswell recognition to the Capital City of
the largest democracy in the Cinema of the World.Returning to films after a gap
