CELEBRATE THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF JAMES BOND

Global James Bond Day
Friday, October 5th, 2012 will be Global James Bond Day, marking the 50th anniversary of the James Bond film franchise. It was Albert R. Broccoli and Harry Saltzman who adapted Ian Fleming’s books and brought Dr No to the screen in 1962. The 007 franchise today is the longest running in film history with twenty-three films produced. The latest James Bond adventure is entitled SKYFALL™ and will be released in the UK on October 26th, in India on November 1st, and in the US on November 9th. In India, the film will have one of the widest releases ever for a Hollywood film in four languages - English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu - and also in the IMAX format.
In the US, events for Global James Bond Day include a film retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art in New York and a Music of Bond Night hosted by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Los Angeles. In other countries around the world, special events have been planned. In the UK, an auction of James Bond memorabilia is taking place at Christie’s with all proceeds going to UNICEF and a number of charitable causes. In Belgium and South Africa, offices will celebrate with Bond-themed Casual Fridays where people will turn up to work dressed in gowns and tuxedos. In addition, EVERYTHING OR NOTHING: The Untold Story of 007, the feature documentary, will be screened in Australia, Belgium, France, Holland, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, Russia and India (as part of the Mumbai Film Festival).
In addition, pre-sale tickets for Skyfall will be available in select locations starting Friday, October 5th. Moviegoers may check with their local theatres for details. Pre-booking has also begun on www.bookmyshow.com. Radio stations around the world are planning to play Bond theme songs and news channels are planning half-hour specials. Multiplex chains are planning a series of promotions on the theme of Bond, leading up to the release of Skyfall on November 1st. Also, a special limited Bond Anniversary edition Bluray box-set containing all 22 films with exclusive bonus features is being launched on October 5th by Excel Entertainment.
