SRK Interview Transcript
Tell us something about your association with Lux.
First of all let me tell you that I enjoy working for lux a lot. It’s one of the few things I do that make me feel extremely macho and manly, and I feel great pride in doing it so it’s been some years that I did the last one so I’m back with more machoism and coolness as you notice.
Are you being dunked into the tub again?
And ya in this film my role is a little less exposing, I don’t take off my clothes and jump into the tub with either Katrina or any other lady whose part of this campaign.
Will we see the romantic side of SRK yet again?
I think in certain sense it’s an extension of more people blame me to be too often that is romantic and loving and in this case the object of love or desire is of course Katrina out there standing, she’s there and she’s very beautiful is the fragrance that emanates from fact that she’s taking a bath in Lux so I am someone who gets carried away and the fragrance that love carries and it reminds me; in this case it being floral and little gentle and soft that is it reminds me of being happy it reminds me of being in love it reminds me of being in a trance it reminds me of getting carried away by the beauty that surrounds me which the epitome of which is of course Katrina and the physicality’s of Katrina but I think that the idea is that the fragrance stands for this beauty that you can fall in love with or reminds you of the time that you were in love with.
How was it playing ‘Bekaboo’?
I hate saying this but yea I’m a lover but yea I’m not tough; I wish you have a fragrance in which I can suddenly evoke the feelings of fighting in a ring , showing my six pack n beating the crap out of someone but yea I think it’s a , I think it’s really sweet what I am playing .. Yea it’s a guy who’s singing a song which has sad strings and suddenly it smells something and he goes completely out of control in love or it reminds him of being in love which is the feeling of ‘Bekaboo’ uncontrollable, unharnessed, unbridled and completely lovingly passionate and the song also changes the atmosphere changes and everything happening around me changes. A wonderful fragrance of lux that comes from... How you say... The bath house...
Do you remember the tune for this ad campaign? Will it be your ringtone?
Yea yea I think it’s very nice and extremely famous song. I really like the song, it takes me a while to remember other actor’s song not because I think their less it’s just that I am not too musically inclined but ya this is please hum the tune and I’ll sing it for you... How do you start? *humming the tune*yea I think it is extremely fantastic. No I do wish I did insist with every please use a song of mine, please use a song of mine or at least of Katrina’s but... There are very few sad songs but their all beautiful and nice...
Do you like the tune, as it playing in your head after shooting?
Ya but we could have made them sad and kept the happy part instead of doing the other but that’s all the discussion for another time but this is a wonderful song *humming the tune*and then it changes.. *hums the song * I like the words of the song a lot. I think Gulzar saab has penned them and I am too small and uncreative to comment on the greatness of Gulzar saab. I always say that I have had the most wonderful works with him. Chahiya Chahiya and now in a new film which we are doing – Challa and he always is outstandingly amazing and beautiful. His usage of words is very different u know ‘humming’ so he is got some outstanding imagery and here also he writes *humming the song* which is, is it the fragrance from heaven so I thinks it’s extremely beautiful
Were you looking forward to romancing Katrina yet again, even if it was for a commercial?
First I always say this, just to talk of her as an actor; she’s extremely talented, extremely beautiful, extremely gentle and enduring. I do miss having not worked with her earlier but I don’t know, Lux should have called upon us before I think I was not pretty enough for Lux *giggles*; so now that I have become pretty I have this chance so I thank you Lux for allowing me to work with Katrina Kaif so I think it is.. I have just finished a film with her, I have done a couple of shows with her but the quality I like about her is that she makes it easy and it is extremely easy u know when you have to have an object of love and desire in a film and it’s Katrina Kaif so it’s the gentleness that she brings, I like the way she looks she carries herself. You know while working in the film also everyone talks about the hard work, the perseverance and just giving it her best. We all do but you know the kind of gentle quality she brings to work is extremely appreciated by me.
Did she teach you ‘Chikni Chameli’?
I know people find it funny but I learn a lot from her because it’s a new experience for me to work with actors who do things differently and she does it very differently so it’s fantastic and you know to do a dance with her and I don’t have to do much. She leading.. You know I am still telling her to teach me chikni chameli steps and that’s my ultimate goal as a creative actor to learn chikni chameli steps.. She’ll kill me for saying this. So the next one we can do the boxing film where Katrina’s chikni chameli playing at the back that sounds really nice. Thank you so much it be Lux like but it’s a pleasure to work with her she’s really kind and wonderful.
