Sonam is fast emerging a popular choice for light-hearted, female-lead driven entertainers in the country - With Aisha ,the actress sparked off the trend , which was then cemented with Khoobsurat , the country's first official Disney romance and with Dolly Ki Doli, Sonam Kapoor wowed everyone yet again as the Ultimate Runaway Bride !
While Hollywood stars like Julia Roberts, Reese Whiterspoon and Anne Hathway have ruled the rom-com genre on the international front, on home turf Sonam Kapoor has mastered the art of carrying off chick-flicks with aplomb, having a huge female fan following in the country who enjoy her escapist, fantasy entertainers.
Says Sonam Kapoor, " It is one of the toughest genres to do, but it is fun. I used to get immediate response for scenes on the sets while shooting DKD, which usually doesn’t happen with other genres. I had fun doing the film and the responses are quite rewarding. I am open to doing more comedy films. I find it most satisfying.”
