Award
wining filmmaker Sudhanshu Saria's critically acclaimed debut feature film,
LOEV, has had a stupendous first week, generating praise and press from around
the world even landing the top trending spot on Netflix India!Starring
Shiv Pandit, Late Dhruv Ganesh and Siddharth Menon, the film follows three
friends on a weekend road trip as they struggle to define the boundaries
between love and friendship.It is
being heralded for the sensitive and unconventional way in which it has
portrayed homosexuality, without resorting to caricatures or unnecessary
sensationalism. Ganesh's performance in particular has become a favourite with
critics and it's heartbreaking to know that LOEV will remain the only principal
role essayed by the young actor who passed away due to tuberculosis early last
year. Produced
by Arfi Lamba and Katharina Suckale of Bombay Berlin Film Productions in
conjunction with Saria's Four Line Films, the film was recently screened for industry
and was very well attended by Bollywood personalities and reviewers. Comedian
Vir Das, fresh on Netflix with his own comedy special, called the film
"powerful and mesmerizing" while actress Richa Chaddha appreciated
the film's "realistic take at complex relationships." Even producer
Ronnie Screwvala ongratulated the team for pushing the envelope of Indian
cinema.
The film
traveled the festival circuit picking up awards and accolades in more than 50 countries before it was finally acquired by Netflix in a
highly competitive situation for a worldwide exclusive deal.
