Actor Ali Fazal is now soon to be a part of a
video on demand series, Mirzapur which is an Amazon Prime show and is being
produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment. In this
series for the very first time, he will be playing a grey shaded character on
screen for which he started prepping well in advance. He has been working a lot
on his dialect and physique for this series, to get the character more
relatable. The show which is a fictional 10
episodic series is being directed by Karan Anshuman and is a gangster drama set
in hinterland India in an imaginary land called Mirzapur. Now making it further
interesting, we hear that series has a lot of references drawn from the
international epic digital series Narcos and one of the best gangster films
from the west Marlon Brando’s The Godfather series. The show's treatment has
drawn inspiration from these and will be the first of its kind content to be
having been produced in India. The series also stars Vikrant Massey, Shweta
Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar and Rasika Dugal. Talking about the same Ali said, “I am a big fan
of Marlon Brando's work and The Godfather series and when I read the script it
instantly clicked to me since somewhere I draw the similarity of Mirzapur
between The Godfather and the Narcos which is a popular digital series
worldwide. It’s an Indian version which is a great blend of both the epic
series from the west. It has a lot of striking similarity between the
two".
