Make way for Pyaar Ki Pungi

Move over Kolaveri Di and make way for Agent Vinod’s Pyaar Ki Pungi, the song that’s created mass hysteria as soon as it was released.
The popular item song from Illuminati’s Agent Vinod composed by the ever-so-versatile Pritam Chakraborty is trending all over and making its way atop all charts thanks to its comic, cheeky and catchy tone.
Explains composer Pritam  "One of the basic reasons of liking this number is the fact that it is a fun filled song. The song plays in the background during one of the scenes in Agent Vinod. Amitabh Bhattacharya came up with this fantastic hook 'Pyar ki pungi' which I am sure could be the next popular phrase among the youngsters” Adding that “Pungi is a musical instrument which is predominantly audible in the song. Hence, the name. The shehnai piece was also extensively used which was later layered with trumpet. So all in all, it is an out an out entertaining and crazy song”.
Pyaar Ki Pungi featuring Saif Ali Khan treats audiences to the actor’s light and naughty side as he grooves to the beats playing the character “Majnu Vinod”-
Says a trade source “ Pyaar Ki Pungi registered numerous fans as soon as it hit online and was predominantly the topic of discussion on all social networking forums much like the Kolaveri Di hysteria…Audiences have last seen Saif ‘s quirky side in Kal Ho Na Ho and he steps it up this time with the Pungi song which is already becoming a common slang with the youth”.
Shot in over 12 countries including  Morocco, Russia and Latvia, the highly anticipated action-adventure Agent Vinod also starring Adil Hussain, Ram Kapoor, Prem Chopra and Gulshan Grover,   is all set to release on the 23rd of March 2012 .

SPIDER-MAN DIRECTOR SAYS ACTORS LIKE IRRFAN KHAN BRING EXOTIC INDIA CLOSER

When The Amazing Spider-Man star Irrfan Khan appeared on the talk show It’s My Life with Raveena Tandon, he had a big surprise awaiting him from none other than Spider-Man director Marc Webb himself! Webb recorded a special video message for the show and he was all praise for the actor who plays the pivotal role of Dr. Ratha in the much-awaited film, due out on 3rd July.
“Irrfan’s importance in Hollywood is an interesting thing. A lot of directors are really starting to take notice of him and are looking for roles for Irrfan because he’s got such a wonderful reputation. There’s a show he did here [in the US] called “In Treatment” and you really got to see his wonderful abilities. Whether its Danny Boyle or Ang Lee, really very strong directors are starting to take notice of this star who comes from a land that some view as exotic and far away from us. But you realize with actors like Irrfan, how close they really are,” he gushed. “Irrfan, it’s good to see you again. I hope you’re doing well and my best to you and your family,” he said signing off.

Riteish Deshmukh spruces up a bachelor pad

It’s not often that an actor contributes to the creative process of making a film -However Riteish Deshmukh, with his background in architecture, did just that as he helped design the layout of a set for his forthcoming film Balaji’s Kya Super Kool Hai Hum also starring Tusshar Kapoor.
The architect- turned- actor assisted the art director by giving creative inputs on sprucing up the set of a bachelor pad for the film.Confirms a production source “The scene was based in a bachelor's house in Mumbai. Riteish contributed to the placement of the wall structure and arrangement of furniture. Everyone welcomed his ideas, including the director Sachin Yardi, art director Madhur Sarkar and co-star Tusshar Kapoor”
Says Riteish “We were shooting the scene in a particular way and things weren't working out.Once we changed the setting of the sofa and a few other items, there was more space for the camera and crew members to move around without bumping into each other or the furniture”.Adding “The idea was to have many posters, lots of color, clutter in certain areas yet having a neat feel to it”.
The actor however is all praise for art director Madhur Sarkar “Madhur is an extraordinary talent. In fact, she inspires me to look at things differently. And it has been a while since I have been inspired by an art director,” says the actor.
After the runaway success of Balaji Motion Pictures ‘ 2005 hit comedy Kya Kool Hai Hum, the team of the film reunites for the rib-tickling sequel, titled Kya Super Kool Hai Hum which is scheduled to release this August.

Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani opens to an unprecedented response

The city is abuzz with news of the missing Arnab Bagchi ,but audiences have to wait no longer as the mystery unveiled itself yesterday as Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani saw its theatrical release.
After the stupendous success of The Dirty Picture where she swept up all the awards including a National Award for Best Actress ,the talented Vidya Balan is all set to deliver yet another award winning performance as a pregnant lady in search of her missing husband in Kolkata in Viacom 18’s Kahaani.
The suspense thriller opened to an unprecedented response with rave reviews coming its way from all quarters.
Says acclaimed critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh “On the whole, KAHAANI works big time because Vidya Balan makes it come alive. It is several notches above the stuff we've been subjected to in the past. The movie triumphs in evoking emotions. You experience compassion, resentment, defenselessness and triumph at a variety of stages. A wonderful movie-going experience, you come out feeling a sense of pride, pleasure and fulfillment after having watched KAHAANI. Just do not miss it. Hugely recommended!”.
Critic Rajeev Masand too was all praise for the film “Taut and refreshingly original, the script of 'Kahaani' keeps you on your toes with its tendency to throw surprises and twists at every turn.. The film delivers on its promise, and keeps you guessing until the end. It's a delicious thriller – don't miss it.”said Masand.
“Much after you watch Kahaani, the film will continue to occupy your mind, as you marvel over how efficiently the story panned out — the kind of film that is enjoyable to re-watch even after you know how it ends.” adds Aniruddha Guha.
Viacom 18’s Kahaani tells the tale of a seven month pregnant Vidya Bagchi in search of her missing husband alone in a festive city, with nothing to rely on except fragments from her memories about him and when it comes to casting a woman of substance, the director could look no further than Vidya Balan.
Says Sujoy Ghosh ““''I always wanted to work with Vidya. She is a great actor. It was first Vidya and then KAHAANI was conceived. 'With Vidya what happens is your film immediately gets a stamp of quality. But now to prove that she has entrusted her stake in a right film is quite a challenge for me”
Commenting on lead actress Vidya Balan’s performance said  Taran Adarsh “This is indeed a favorable moment for a Hindi movie heroine, unlike in times of yore. She is being looked up to as an actor with strengths, limitations, failures and accomplishments. She is geared up to conduct experiments, equipped to explore uncharted territories. This also goes for one of the most proficient actresses of our times, Vidya Balan. The famed actress has persistently ambled the untrodden path vis-a-vis her choice of movies, Paa, Ishqiya, No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture and now Kahaani...”
On a high note ends Madhureeta Mukherjee, TOI “After The Dirty Picture you still needed convincing that you will miss a leading 'hero' in this one, get ready for another punch in the jaw. Once again, a 'pregnant' Vidya, ironically displays more 'male ornaments' (excuse the watering down) than most heroes. She takes on her role with power and pride.”
